General Motors has announced a recall affecting almost 462,000 trucks and large SUVs in the United States due to a potential hazard involving rear wheel lockup, posing crash risks.
The recall encompasses Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models from 2020 to 2022, alongside the 2021 models of the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. The controversy stems from a faulty transmission control valve that may result in wheel lockup.
To combat this issue, GM plans to deploy new transmission control software to detect wear, mitigating the risk. Letters notifying owners will be sent on December 9, amidst a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation.
