In a bid to combat traffic congestion around metro stations, the Delhi Traffic Police have cracked down on improper parking, issuing over 4 lakh challans for such violations till October 22 this year. This represents an increase of 21% from last year's figures.
The data highlights a broader effort by the Traffic Police to maintain order, also recording 94,186 challans for driving against the traffic flow—65% more than the previous year. These measures are part of targeted operations addressing e-rickshaw, gramin sewa, and auto hindrances that exacerbate congestion issues.
Additional traffic staff have been deployed and both regular and special drives are held to address the violations. Public awareness campaigns, like those at Nangloi Chowk, aim to educate about road safety, featuring the distribution of reflective tape for increased visibility.
