Tragic Wedding Bus Plunge in Pakistan Leaves 16 Dead

A tragic bus accident claimed the lives of at least 16 people and injured one woman in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region on Tuesday. The vehicle, carrying wedding guests, fell into the Indus river in Diamer district.
Police confirmed that the bus was traveling from Astore to Chakwal district in Punjab when it fell from the Telchi bridge. Senior Superintendent of Police Sher Khan reported that 16 bodies have been recovered while rescue operations continue.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. Local reports cite frequent road accidents in the area due to tough weather conditions, challenging terrain, and lack of adequate traffic regulations.
