The Andhra Pradesh government unveiled a Rs 2.94 lakh crore budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Monday, aimed at restarting the state's financial momentum. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav focused on creating wealth and reviving the state's economy through strategic allocations across various departments.
Education and healthcare received significant attention in the budget, with Rs 29,909 crore earmarked for school education and Rs 18,421 crore allocated for healthcare and family welfare. The budget also outlined Rs 16,739 crore for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, highlighting the government's commitment to poverty eradication.
In an effort to promote sustainable development, the government allocated Rs 11,490 crore for planned urban growth and Rs 8,207 crore for the Energy Department, introducing the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024. Despite criticism from the YSRCP party over past fiscal management, the administration is optimistic about the state's recovery and future growth.
