Maruti Suzuki's Managing Director, Hisashi Takeuchi, emphasized the vast market potential for automakers in India, citing a low car density of about 35 per 1,000 people. This stark contrast to car-dense regions like the U.S. and Europe, where density can reach 600 cars per 1,000 people, makes India a prime target for expansion.
Takeuchi outlined the company's strategic plans including the ongoing construction of a new manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana. Set to launch production by next April, this plant will boost Maruti's production capability significantly, eventually reaching a staggering one million cars annually.
Moreover, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to expand its production in Gujarat and enhance its electric vehicle offerings at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Auto Show. Alongside a refreshed Dzire sedan model, these initiatives underline the automaker's aggressive approach to meet India's growing automotive demands.
