The North American Punjabi Association has petitioned for the initiation of direct flights connecting San Francisco and Amritsar, requesting the intervention of India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar.
NAPA Executive Director, Satnam Singh Chahal, emphasized the importance of this route, noting that stronger air connectivity would bolster cultural and economic ties between the regions. He pointed out that, despite numerous international connections from India, the lack of a direct flight between these locales has been a persistent issue for the local diaspora and businesses. The route is expected to enhance convenience and reduce travel times for commuters significantly.
Chahal further stated that such a flight would not only strengthen cultural and educational connections but also provide opportunities for economic growth via increased trade, tourism, and business collaborations. The establishment of this flight path would be a welcome development for both communities, flying forward the potential for expanded international airline operations.
