A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from Hainan Airlines experienced an engine fire shortly after departing Rome's Fiumicino airport. Bound for Shenzhen, the plane safely returned following bird strike-induced issues, with 249 passengers and 16 crew members aboard. The incident caused no air traffic delays.

A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, operated by Hainan Airlines, experienced a frightening incident when its right engine caught fire shortly after lifting off from Rome's Fiumicino airport, as reported by Italian airport officials and the Coast Guard.
The flight was en route to Shenzhen, China, carrying 249 passengers and 16 crew members. In response to the engine fire, the crew successfully executed an emergency landing after releasing fuel over the sea. The Italian Coast Guard attributed the issue to a bird strike, a common hazard in aviation.
Despite the unexpected circumstances, the aircraft's return did not result in any delays to other flights at Fiumicino, according to airport authorities.
