British airline Virgin Atlantic announced the launch of its second daily direct flight from London Heathrow to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, effective October 27. This move aims to meet the surging demand for premium travel between these key urban destinations.
The new service employs Virgin Atlantic's Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, available in three cabin class configurations—upper, premium, and economy. This expansion effectively doubles the airline's capacity on the London-Mumbai route, underscoring its strategic commitment to the growing Indian market.
According to Shivani Singh Deo, Virgin Atlantic's Country Manager in India, the expansion represents a strategic milestone for the airline, which has identified India as a paramount market. Next year marks Virgin Atlantic's 25th anniversary in India, and the airline plans to offer close to one million seats in India by 2025.
