Spanish President Pedro Sánchez has emphasized the critical role of advancing negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) between the European Union and India. During a visit to Mumbai, Sánchez addressed the opportunities such a partnership could create, particularly in expanding market size and diversity.
The potential benefits for both regions are substantial, with Spain already having invested over USD 4.2 billion into India. Sánchez highlighted how Spanish expertise in renewable energy and transportation could be instrumental in aiding India's infrastructure projects and energy goals.
Meanwhile, India's Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, echoed the sentiment, noting the joint ventures in technology between the two nations could enhance competitiveness in the global energy market. The collaboration aims to support India's carbon neutrality target by 2070 through solutions in green energy and mobility.
