In a tragic incident on the Pune-Solapur Highway, two people lost their lives and 64 others sustained injuries following a collision involving two state transport buses, Maharashtra police reported on Tuesday.

The accident took place near Varvand village, Pune district, around 5 pm on Monday, according to police inspector Narayan Deshmukh.

The crash was triggered when a two-wheeler unexpectedly appeared in front of a Pune-bound bus, forcing it to veer sharply and jump the divider, subsequently hitting a bus traveling towards Solapur. Authorities reveal that the buses collectively held over 110 passengers.
