The Arctic Circle Express, en route to Bodoe, derailed north of the Arctic Circle. According to NTB, citing the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, between 50 and 70 passengers were onboard.

Photographs in Norwegian media revealed the locomotive and at least two passenger cars were involved. Police confirmed the train, comprising five cars and a locomotive, journeyed from Trondheim to Bodoe, and emergency personnel swiftly arrived at the scene.
