Puducherry's Financial Aid: Boost for BPL and APL Families

The Puducherry government has announced a financial aid initiative under the free rice scheme, aiming to support both below poverty line (BPL) and above poverty line (APL) families. As part of this program, BPL families will receive Rs 1,200 for the months of August and September, while APL families will get Rs 600 for the same period.
This direct cash transfer will be facilitated through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system beginning Friday. A statement from the Chief Minister's office highlighted that this initiative will benefit approximately 2.04 lakh BPL families and 3.09 lakh APL families. The government has allocated Rs 32.41 crores to fund these cash payments.
In addition to the monetary support, the government is providing 10 kg of rice and 2 kg of sugar to all families as a Diwali gift through ration shops, ensuring access to essential commodities during the festive season.
