Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has revealed the key areas of focus for the Narendra Modi government to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, marking 100 years since independence. Speaking to Wharton School students at the University of Pennsylvania, she outlined plans centered on infrastructure, investment, innovation, and inclusiveness.
Sitharaman highlighted the crucial role of infrastructure, both physical and digital, in supporting this vision. She emphasized the importance of initiating public and private investments to catalyze development. The minister's visit coincided with her participation in annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington DC.
In addition, Sitharaman called for innovative solutions tailored to India's unique challenges, ensuring inclusiveness in progress. She stressed the importance of uplifting marginalized groups in line with constitutional commitments, addressing the needs of farmers, women, youth, and the poor to expand access to resources and opportunities.
