Noel Tata, the half-brother of the late Ratan Tata, has been named the new chairman of Tata Trusts. The announcement comes after a joint meeting of trustees in Mumbai, who expressed grief over Ratan Tata's passing and praised his contributions to both the Tata Group and national development.
The trustees decided unanimously to appoint Noel Tata, acknowledging his longstanding association with the Tata Group and his experience as a trustee on the boards of Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. Noel is set to lead the trusts that hold a controlling stake in Tata Sons, the main holding company for the Tata Group's vast business interests.
Noel Tata has been part of the Tata Group since 1999, heading various subsidiaries, including Trent Ltd and Tata International. As chairman of several Tata companies, Noel is well-positioned to steer the conglomerate's philanthropic efforts forward, honoring the legacy of his late half-brother and the founders of the Tata Group.
