The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has officially sanctioned the acquisition of the Home and Personal Care (HPC) division of Patanjali Ayurved Limited (PAL) by Patanjali Foods Limited (PFL). The HPC sector encompasses a wide array of products ranging from hair care and skin care to dental and home care solutions.

This acquisition marks a significant diversification for PFL, which has primarily focused on food processing, oilseed refining, and FMCG sectors related to health, nutrition, and edible oils. Renowned for its oilseed processing, PFL is also a key player in refining crude oil for edible purposes and developing value-added products from soya and other raw materials.

Besides its robust presence in the fast-moving consumer goods arena — offering food items, biscuits, and nutraceutical products — PFL also engages in renewable energy initiatives through wind power. Meanwhile, Patanjali Ayurved Limited stands out for its Ayurvedic products and herbo-mineral preparations, maintaining a solid market presence with Ayurvedic medicines, dairy items, rice trading, and personal care products housed under its HPC division. This strategic acquisition is poised to fortify PFL's foothold in the home and personal care markets, capitalizing on PAL's well-established Ayurvedic personal care brand.

A comprehensive order from the Competition Commission will be forthcoming, detailing the specifics of this significant transaction. (ANI)
