Heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning caused significant disruptions at Goa International Airport, resulting in the diversion of five commercial flights, according to a senior official.
The weather-related diversions occurred on Tuesday evening, forcing airport authorities to redirect flights to Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Two flights were sent to Hyderabad, while three were rerouted to Bengaluru. Normal operations resumed around 12:10 am Wednesday when the weather cleared, allowing the affected Vistara and IndiGo flights to return to Goa.
