In a groundbreaking move, eight freight trains were paired and operated as four train formations on a single day, optimizing time and crew resources, officials revealed.
Shashi Kant Tripathi, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, explained that each train consisted of 58 wagons and an engine, forming four long-haul operations that required just one train crew, successfully tackling issues related to crew shortages.
This experimental operation, led by key officials, promises to enhance freight operations on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, benefiting passenger services by reducing congestion and improving punctuality, especially ahead of the Kumbh Mela scheduled next year in the Prayagraj division.
