A delegation from the Jaipur Pulses Millers Association met with Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari, on Tuesday to present a memorandum requesting tax reductions on pulses.

The group called for the reduction of the Mandi fee from 1.60% to 1% and the elimination of the 0.50% Krishak Kalyan cess currently levied on pulses. Diya Kumari assured the delegates that she would bring their concerns to the cabinet for consideration in hopes of finding a positive resolution.

Senior Vice President of the Jaipur Dal Millers Association, Pawan Agarwal, argued that reducing the tax burden could actually increase government tax revenue while preventing the exodus of dal mills to other states. Additionally, this move would protect the employment of thousands dependent on the industry. Dal mill operator Ramprakash Birmiwala highlighted the need to exempt raw pulses from outside Rajasthan from the Mandi levy, given the existing taxes on them.
