In a significant expansion of its operations in India, Apple Inc. has announced plans to inaugurate four new retail outlets across key cities—Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai. This development follows the launch of Apple's first two Indian stores in Delhi and Mumbai in April 2023.

The tech giant is also advancing its manufacturing capabilities in India, with the production of the iPhone 16 series, including the Pro and Pro Max models, to cater to both local customers and export markets. Since commencing iPhone production in India in 2017, Apple has grown its workforce to over 3,000 employees in the country.

During its annual event on September 9, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, powered by the A18 Pro chip, and boasting Apple Intelligence, larger displays, enhanced camera features, and improved graphics. These models, available in four titanium finishes, began pre-orders on September 13, with availability starting September 20.

Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's senior vice president of Retail, emphasized the importance of the Indian market and expressed excitement at building teams as the company expands its retail presence. The initiative is fueled by the Indian government's Production Linked Incentive scheme, which aims to attract global electronics manufacturers.
