Jamaica is taking decisive steps to adopt the digital payments success exemplified by India. In a strategic move, Prime Minister Andrew Holness, during his first official visit to India, engaged in discussions with the Digital India Foundation and policymakers.
Central to the agenda was understanding India's digital architecture, including the Aadhaar system and the Unified Payment Interface (UPI). A roundtable discussion led to a crucial agreement focusing on cooperation in digital public infrastructure to transform Jamaica into a digital economy.
Additionally, Jamaica aims to boost collaboration across healthcare, agriculture, and sports, joining the Global Biofuels Alliance as part of their energy security initiatives. The visit symbolizes an important stride towards enhancing bilateral ties and digital integration.
