The Odisha government has set a target of attracting Rs 5 lakh crore in investment over the next five years, as announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday.

Majhi traveled to New Delhi for a two-day visit to attend a roadshow and meet ambassadors from various countries, along with captains of the domestic industry.

On Thursday, the Chief Minister will participate in a roadshow for 'Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha 2025' in the national capital. This event aims to build excitement for next year's Make in Odisha Conclave, which will host business leaders and investors in Bhubaneswar.

"I am embarking on this tour to bring rapid industrial growth to Odisha," Majhi told reporters. "This 'Utkarsh Odisha' conclave for 2025 and 2026 will push the state towards industrial excellence. I will personally invite industry leaders to attend the business summit in January 2025."

Majhi emphasized the state's focus on attracting investment in food processing, IT, chemicals, petrochemicals, and allied sectors.

He announced that the state has already attracted Rs 45,000 crore in investment within the first 100 days of his administration. "With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, we will achieve the target of Rs 5 lakh crore in five years," he added.

The 'Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha 2025' will take place in Bhubaneswar on January 28 and 29. The curtain-raiser in New Delhi will feature representatives from 34 countries, showcasing Odisha's growing global presence.

''Delhi is prepared for the Utkarsh Odisha - Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 Curtain Raiser,'' said Industry Minister Sampad Swain. ''This event emphasizes Odisha's strategy to attract global investment and develop its industries.''

The event will conclude with an interactive session, where the Chief Minister will elaborate on Odisha's infrastructure and industrial development plans, as well as its international collaborations.
