German Finance Minister Christian Lindner urged opposition to an EU proposal imposing tariffs on China-made electric cars in a conference on Wednesday.
Speaking at an event hosted by the BGA trade association, Lindner warned that engaging in a trade war with China would cause more harm than benefit, particularly affecting a key European industry and a critical sector in Germany.
Lindner emphasized the importance of Chancellor Olaf Scholz taking a clear position on the issue ahead of the EU vote scheduled for Friday.
