Air India is launching a revised policy for cabin crew members on both domestic and international flights, according to a source. The new policy mandates room-sharing during layovers for certain crew members.
This policy does not apply to Air India Express, which has merged AIX Connect. Allowances for international flight cabin crew will be increased from USD 75-125 to USD 85-135, while domestic flight allowances remain unchanged at Rs 1,000 per night. However, domestic crew will get an additional support allowance of Rs 1,000 per night.
The revision aligns with the formalisation of the Air India and Vistara merger, necessitating policy harmonisation. An airline spokesperson confirmed these competitive changes meet industry standards. This is the first time room-sharing will be introduced at Air India, a practice already in place at Air India Express and Vistara. The update comes amid ongoing labour law disputes involving Air India Express cabin crew.
