Government Launches PM E-DRIVE Scheme to Accelerate Electric Vehicle Adoption

Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy urged automakers to strictly follow the guidelines to avail incentives under the Rs 10,900 crore PM E-DRIVE scheme, aiming to avoid any controversies that plagued the FAME-II initiative. The scheme focuses on the faster adoption of electric vehicles and the development of related infrastructure.

Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy has called on automakers to adhere strictly to the guidelines when availing incentives under the newly launched Rs 10,900 crore PM E-DRIVE scheme.

This comes in the wake of controversies surrounding the earlier FAME-II scheme, where some companies were accused of violating norms to claim incentives.

The new scheme aims to boost the adoption of electric vehicles and set up necessary infrastructure, running from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026.
