Piyush Goyal Engages Global Investors to Boost India's Economy
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held bilateral meetings with major global investment firms Warburg Pincus and Blackstone. Discussions focused on investment opportunities in India’s electronics, renewable energy, and other sectors. Goyal’s visit to the US includes co-chairing key forums with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
On Tuesday, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in bilateral discussions with global private equity firm Warburg Pincus and investment giant Blackstone. The meetings centered on identifying and expanding investment opportunities in India, particularly in the electronics and renewable energy sectors.
Goyal, who is in the US at the invitation of Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, will co-chair the India-USA CEO Forum on October 2 and the 6th India-USA Commercial Dialogue on October 3 in Washington D.C. He shared his meetings with Timothy F Geithner, Chairman of Warburg Pincus, and Stephen A Schwarzman, Chairman and CEO of Blackstone, on social media platform X, highlighting efforts to improve business facilitation and infrastructure in India.
Goyal emphasized exploring new ideas, especially in the fields of renewable energy, data infrastructure, and research and development. The US remains India's top trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching USD 120 billion in 2023-24. This visit underscores India's ongoing commitment to attract foreign direct investment and strengthen economic ties with the US.
