ExxonMobil is advancing several major energy projects across Africa, reinforcing its role as a key player in the continent's oil and gas industry. The company is focused on expanding its upstream pipeline to ensure a reliable, affordable energy supply while maintaining industry-leading low emissions intensity.

ExxonMobil's $24 billion Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique is moving forward, with recent discussions between ExxonMobil upstream president Liam Mallon and Mozambican President Nyusi confirming the start of front-end engineering design (FEED). The project is expected to reach a final investment decision by 2026.

In Southern Africa, ExxonMobil is leading exploration efforts in the Namibe basin, offshore Angola, where results from a newly drilled wildcat well could shape the region’s energy future. This basin stretches into northern Namibia, offering long-term potential for regional energy development.

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, ExxonMobil is shifting focus toward deepwater investments as it completes the sale of its shallow-water assets. With Nigeria’s offshore reserves accounting for 32% of the country’s production, ExxonMobil is well-positioned to drive further development of the nation’s 37.5 billion barrels of oil reserves.

ExxonMobil’s engagement in African energy will be highlighted at the upcoming AOW: Investing In African Energy event, where the company is a platinum sponsor. Richard Barke, ExxonMobil's Vice President for South Atlantic Exploration, will deliver a keynote address, sharing the company’s strategic vision for Africa’s energy future. Barke emphasized Africa’s key role in meeting the world’s evolving energy needs, citing the continent’s vast resources and potential.

Through cutting-edge exploration and strategic partnerships, ExxonMobil continues to solidify its position as a major force in Africa's energy sector.
