The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Tuesday announced its collaboration with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to implement the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme, as outlined in the recent Budget. The scheme aims to offer internship opportunities to one crore youth across 500 top CSR spend companies over the next five years. Acting as a critical facilitator, CII aims to ensure the effective rollout of the scheme, which seeks to enhance youth employability through hands-on business exposure.

To streamline the process, MCA has launched a user-centric portal that will serve as a centralized hub for aspiring interns and participating companies, facilitating smooth navigation of application and participation processes. CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee emphasized that the scheme provides a critical bridge between education and industry, addressing the growing talent shortage with skilled and agile future workforce.

CII President Sanjiv Puri highlighted that offering internships across sectors like manufacturing and services will cultivate a workforce ready to meet future challenges. The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme represents a transformative effort to bridge the skills gap, aligning education with industry needs to foster long-term economic development in India.
