NITI Aayog, India's central government think tank, is set to release a comprehensive roadmap for the nation's green energy transition and net zero carbon emissions target next month, CEO BVR Subrahmanyam announced on Tuesday.

Subrahmanyam made the announcement on the sidelines of the Telangana chapter launch of the Women Entrepreneurship Programme (WEP), a flagship initiative of NITI Aayog. He stated that a 9 percent aspirational growth is feasible, supported by sectoral development.

'Wait for one month. NITI Aayog has the best team in India working on energy transition, climate change, net zero, and circularity. Our reports will be available in November, outlining the roadmap for net zero by 2070,' he said. Subrahmanyam added that the think tank is working on a green transition ecosystem for 'hard-to-abate' sectors like steel, cement, and petrochemicals, with ease of circularity in industries such as lithium-ion batteries and electronic components.

He also highlighted the addition of 2.2 million workers in the industrial sector since pre-COVID times, increased Gross Value Added (GVA) per worker, and an annual rise of Rs 70,000 in worker emoluments, totaling Rs 3.5 lakh per annum.
