Tata Motors Ltd on Tuesday reported a significant 15% decline in total domestic sales for September, amounting to 69,694 units compared to 82,023 units during the same period last year.
In the domestic market, total passenger vehicle sales, including electric vehicles, fell by 8% to 41,063 units last month, down from 44,809 units in September 2023, according to a company statement.
'The PV industry in Q2 FY25 experienced more than a 5% decline in retails, as measured by Vahan registrations, compared to Q2 FY24. This was driven by slow consumer demand and seasonal factors,' said Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.
Total commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 28,631 units in September, down 23% from 37,214 units in the previous year.
Executive Director Girish Wagh noted that domestic CV sales for Q2 FY25 were 79,931 units, marking a 19% decrease from Q2 FY24. He attributed the drop to a slowdown in infrastructure projects, reduced mining activities, and lower fleet utilization due to heavy rains.
