The first four days of the 2024 festive season sale (September 26-29) witnessed a substantial 20% rise in order volumes and a 24% surge in gross merchandise value (GMV) compared to the same period last year (October 7-10, 2023), as reported by Unicommerce. Their analysis, based on over 1.3 million orders processed, highlights significant growth across multiple product categories.

Fashion and accessories recorded an impressive 32% increase in demand, fueled by travel accessories, watches, and kids' apparel. Meanwhile, the makeup segment experienced a remarkable 54% year-on-year growth, reflecting a strong consumer interest in beauty products.

The health and pharma segment posted a 33% rise in volumes, driven by nutraceuticals and fitness supplements. Though the home decor segment saw only a marginal rise in volumes, it reported a noteworthy over 50% increase in GMV. Other categories, such as phone accessories, books, sports and fitness products, and healthy snacks, also showed significant demand, showcasing the diversity in consumer preferences during the festive season.

Kapil Makhija, Managing Director and CEO of Unicommerce, remarked on the evolving consumer trends, stating, "Festive season sales have become an exciting time with attractive offers and a wide range of products. The increasing number of brands participating in the sale reaffirms India's position as a digitally forward country."

With more festive sales events approaching in October for Navratri, Dussehra, Karva Chauth, Diwali, and other celebrations, the early momentum indicates a robust season ahead for India's e-commerce industry. (ANI)
