The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced on Monday that over 40 foreign operators of Boeing 737 airplanes may be flying planes with rudder components that could pose serious safety risks.
Last week, the NTSB issued urgent safety recommendations after a February incident involving a United Airlines flight, highlighting concerns about the potential for a jammed rudder control system on some Boeing 737 models.
On Monday, the NTSB further revealed that two foreign operators experienced similar issues in 2019 related to rollout guidance actuators. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy expressed concerns in a letter to FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker, noting that other airlines might be unaware of these potentially faulty actuators.
