Government Extends RoDTEP Scheme Benefits for Domestic Exports till 2025

The government has extended the benefits under the RoDTEP scheme for exports from domestic tariff area (DTA) units until September 30, 2025. The scheme, which offers refunds on taxes, duties, and levies for exporters, aims to boost global competitiveness by addressing unrefunded costs. Updated rates will take effect from October 10.

The government has extended the benefits under the RoDTEP scheme for exports made from domestic tariff area (DTA) units for one year, until September 30, 2025. The extension of the scheme, which was launched in January 2021, comes as a significant boost for exporters. It provides refunds on taxes, duties, and levies incurred during manufacturing and distribution, costs which are not reimbursed under any other mechanism at various governmental levels.

According to a notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the scheme has also been extended for Advance Authorisation (AA) holders, Export Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) until December 31, 2024. The revised rates will be implemented starting October 10, contingent on updates to the ICEGATE portal. These rates range from 0.3% to 3.9%, lower than the previous bracket of up to 4.3%, aligning with the budgetary allocation of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023.

Industry leaders have welcomed the extension, noting that it will enhance the global competitiveness of Indian exporters. Sanjay Budhia, Chairman of the CII National Committee on EXIM, and Ashwani Kumar, President of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), praised the move. They emphasized that the scheme's extension will support export growth, allow for better contract finalization, and enable greater participation in global value chains.
