States Urge Focused Approach on Quality Job Creation

Several states on Monday called for the creation of employment data and a focused approach for creating quality jobs.
The suggestions emerged at the fifth regional meeting of the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment with states and Union Territories. Key discussions included labour reforms, the e-Shram portal, building and construction workers (BoCW), and employment generation, indicating the government's dedication to inclusive workforce development, stated the Ministry of Labour & Employment.
The importance of timely submission of employment returns and job fair details to the Directorate General of Employment via the National Career Service portal was also highlighted, alongside a consultative approach to state reforms.
Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Sushri Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated the meeting involving five states/UTs in Lucknow. This was the fifth in a planned series of six regional meetings aimed at inclusive labour reforms.
Labour & Employment Secretary Sumita Dawra emphasized the need for efficient data capturing systems and announced an index to rank states/UTs on employment generation and data collection to foster healthy collaboration.
