In a tragic incident early Sunday, a private bus rammed into a stationary truck in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to 16 passengers, police reported.
The collision happened near Dhaurabhata village on the Bilaspur-Raipur highway, with the bus en route to Raipur from Gaya, Bihar, carrying 50 people. The impact was severe, leading to the immediate death of driver Ghanshyam Chauhan, 35, and leaving 16 others injured, all Raipur residents.
A rescue team quickly reached the scene to transport the injured to nearby health centers. Two severely injured individuals were later moved to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences Bilaspur for further treatment. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.
