The Uttar Pradesh government is rolling out a new fleet of electric buses, including double-decker models, to improve the commuting experience and cut pollution.
Transport Minister Daya Shankar Singh told PTI that the double-decker buses, which can accommodate 65 passengers each, will start operating in Lucknow during the upcoming Navratri festival. The initial fleet of 100 buses will be expanded further, he said.
Efforts are underway to ensure affordable ticket prices and robust charging networks, with around 2,000 locations identified for charging stations.
