India Aims for 350 Airports by 2047, Boosting Tourism and Connectivity

Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu announced ambitious plans to scale up the number of airports in India to 350 by 2047. Speaking on World Tourism Day at Vigyan Bhawan, he outlined the government's vision aligned with the 'Viksit Bharat' initiative.
Naidu highlighted the efforts to connect more hinterland locations and improve facilities at airports, as these are the gateways to the country. He praised the UDAAN scheme and highlighted the 'Chalo India' campaign which aims to exempt one lakh foreign tourists from visa fees.
The minister emphasized that air travel is crucial for boosting tourism and stressed the importance of leveraging better connectivity to realize India's tourism potential. The theme for this year's World Tourism Day is 'Tourism and Peace.'
