Assuaging concerns over rail safety, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has affirmed that the implementation of the 'Kavach' automatic train protection system is being executed on an urgent basis, coupled with strict quality checks for tracks and signals.

Modern technology tools, including ultrasound tests and fog safety devices, are being integrated across the rail network. Alongside, special training programs for drivers and personnel are underway for the Kavach system, the minister informed a select group of journalists.

In the face of recent derailments, which have drawn criticism from opposition parties, the minister highlighted the importance of the indigenously developed Kavach system. Designed to assist loco pilots and ensure safe train operations, the system will cover over one lakh kilometers and 7,000 stations in the coming years.
