India has skyrocketed in the Global Innovation Index (GII), improving by 42 positions over the last nine years to secure the 39th spot in 2024. The country now leads among 38 lower-middle-income economies, a testament to its growing innovation prowess.

According to the latest GII report, India has made a significant leap from its 81st position in 2015, showcasing its strengths in fostering innovation. Union Minister Piyush Goyal attributed this progress to the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the focus on creating a conducive environment for innovation.

In a post on social media platform 'X', Goyal highlighted India's top ranks: first among economies in Central and Southern Asia, first among lower-middle-income economies, and fourth in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Science & Technology Cluster Ranking.

Additionally, Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai have been recognized as top 100 global S&T clusters, emphasizing their role in research and technological advancements. India also achieved the seventh rank globally in intangible asset intensity, underscoring the significance of patents and trademarks in driving innovation.

This impressive progress underscores the vital role of Indian innovators and entrepreneurs in transforming the nation's innovation landscape, positioning India as a global leader in various aspects of technological development and research. (ANI)
