Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday criticized the Indian Road Congress (IRC), a 90-year-old organization responsible for guidance on technical aspects of infrastructure, comparing its operations to those of a political party.

Speaking at the 'Advances in Bridge Management' session during the IRC's international seminar, Gadkari emphasized the need for the organization to operate as an independent, impartial, and fair entity.

He proposed the IRC establish a permanent office with laboratories and appoint full-time researchers. Gadkari also highlighted the necessity for quality alternatives to current technology and a quicker project approval process to address infrastructure challenges in India.
