An Iraqi Airways flight from Baghdad to Guangzhou was forced to make a medical emergency landing at Kolkata airport on Wednesday after a teenage passenger fell gravely ill on board. The 16-year-old girl, identified as Deran Samir Ahmed, was declared dead upon arrival at a local hospital.
The flight IA-473, carrying 100 passengers and 15 crew members, diverted to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, landing at 10:18 pm. A medical team immediately attended to the young passenger but found no pulse and no heartbeat.
Following necessary formalities, the teenager and her two co-passengers were taken to a private hospital by an Airports Authority of India (AAI) ambulance. Unfortunately, the hospital confirmed she was brought in dead. The flight continued to its destination at 1:49 am.
