A goods train derailed near Tupkadih station in Jharkhand, causing significant disruptions in train movement, an official confirmed.
Fifteen trains, including 14 express services, have been diverted as a result, stated Sumit Narula, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Adra division of South Eastern Railway.
The incident occurred around 9 PM last night, overturning a steel consignment from Bokaro Steel Plant on the main line between Tupkadih and Bokaro stations. The derailment, near the northern cabin yard of Tupkadih station, primarily affected the Bokaro-Gomo section. Narula confirmed that while one impacted line has been restored, work on the other line continues. In response, South East Railways released a bulletin indicating the derailment blocked both lines at point TKB yard over point no. 102. Affected trains included key services such as the Varanasi-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express and Ranchi-Bhagalpur Vananchal Express. Passengers have faced considerable inconvenience due to stranded trains. An inquiry into the derailment has been ordered by railways authorities.
