Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday revealed new minimum wage rates to be effective from October 1. Unskilled workers will receive Rs 18,066, semi-skilled Rs 19,929, and skilled workers Rs 21,917, she announced ahead of the festive season.
This was Atishi's first press conference after taking office, where she credited the AAP government under Arvind Kejriwal for setting the highest minimum wages in the country. Rates for matriculate and graduate workers were also set at Rs 21,917 and Rs 23,836, respectively.
Atishi criticized the BJP for being anti-poor and claimed their governed states offer lower minimum wages. The Kejriwal administration, she stated, has fought legal battles to ensure wage revisions happen twice annually.
