Samsung India workers who have been protesting at its factory near Chennai since September 9, have urged the Tamil Nadu government's intervention to facilitate talks with the management and resolve the matter swiftly.
The workers welcomed the central government's support, with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urging the Tamil Nadu government to resolve the issue amicably. Nearly 1,000 of the 1,750 employees are striking for better pay packages and improved working conditions.
Mandaviya emphasized the need for maintenance of a positive manufacturing sector ecosystem and assured the state of full ministry support. Samsung stated that the strike's impact is minimal and reiterated its commitment to employee welfare.
