Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Strengthens India-Australia Economic Ties
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal kicked off his visit to Australia by engaging with key stakeholders in Sydney, including business leaders and community representatives. Discussions focused on bolstering economic cooperation and exploring investment opportunities in emerging sectors. The visit aims to enhance bilateral ties and foster mutual growth.

On the first day of his Australia visit, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal engaged with various stakeholders in Sydney. The Minister participated in a business roundtable hosted by the Business Council of Australia, attended by leading Australian and Indian CEOs. Goyal urged Australian business leaders to seize opportunities from India's sustained economic growth.
He also met senior representatives from Australian pension funds to discuss India's robust policies and reform agenda that have boosted investor confidence. Goyal encouraged investments in sectors such as renewable energy, manufacturing, education, fintech, and agritech.
In a meeting with Tania Constable, CEO of the Minerals Council of Australia, the Minister discussed collaboration in the critical minerals sector. He also explored coastal tourism opportunities with Joel Katz, Managing Director of the Cruise Lines International Association.
Goyal interacted with Robin Khuda, CEO of AirTrunk, on India's digitalisation and potential collaboration in data infrastructure. The Centre for Australia-India Relations hosted a lunch in his honour, attended by their Director network members.
Later, the Minister met with the Indian community at a reception hosted by the Consulate General of India at Sydney Cricket Ground. He visited the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Parramatta, recalling his 2022 visit. The event saw attendance from Andrew Charlton MP and Warren Kirby, a member of the NSW legislature.
Before departing for Adelaide, Goyal's engagements include a reception hosted by the Australia-India Business Council (AIBC) and NSW Parliamentary Friends of India at Parliament House, with political dignitaries and business representatives expected to attend.
