Delhi's environment department is set to organize an 'e-vehicle parade' at Rajghat in early October, aimed at promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) within the city.

Officials expect participation from over 500 EVs, with registration details to be announced soon. The event, anticipated to cost approximately Rs 5.76 lakh, is already open for tender submissions, which close on September 30. The parade will transpire within five days of tender allocation.

'The primary objective is to promote EV usage in Delhi and raise awareness about their benefits,' a senior department official stated. 'Transitioning to electric vehicles will contribute to reducing vehicular pollution in the capital,' the official added. Environment Minister Gopal Rai highlighted the government's commitment to combating air pollution, especially during winter months. With a detailed Winter Action Plan ready, efforts are underway to significantly reduce pollution levels year-round.
