The escalating labour strike at Samsung's Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu poses a significant risk to the manufacturing ecosystem in the region, according to think tank Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI).
The GTRI has urged immediate intervention from both the Central and Tamil Nadu governments, warning that unresolved issues could hamper India's ambitions to become a global manufacturing leader.
GTRI Founder Ajay Srivastava highlighted that the unrest is undermining investor confidence and could lead to job losses, along with a decline in the state's electronics manufacturing capability.
