Celebrating the Legacy of Soli J. Sorabjee at Jindal Global Law School Memorial Lecture

The Jindal Global Law School commemorated the legacy of Soli J. Sorabjee with a memorial lecture by former Chief Justice of India, U.U. Lalit. The late jurist’s contributions to law and human rights were celebrated, and the 2024 Soli J. Sorabjee Endowment Award was announced.

The legacy of Soli J. Sorabjee, a stalwart of Indian jurisprudence, was honored at a memorial lecture organized by Jindal Global Law School at O.P. Jindal Global University. Former Chief Justice of India, U.U. Lalit, spoke highly of Sorabjee's dedication to the right to dissent and freedom of expression, key hallmarks of democracy.

Justice Lalit shared personal anecdotes and highlighted Sorabjee's broad understanding of the Constitution, emphasizing his crucial role in upholding democratic values through his public judgments and writings. Sorabjee's vast interests ranged from music to literature, but his commitment to the tenets of law, particularly freedom of expression, remained paramount.

Additionally, the university announced Khushi Doshi as the recipient of the 2024 Soli J. Sorabjee Endowment Award & Scholarship for Human Rights Law & Theory. Sorabjee's extensive career, marked by his tenure as Attorney General and his work with the United Nations, underscored his enduring impact on human rights and public law.
