Two leaders from the NCP (Sharad Pawar) initiated an indefinite fast in Nagpur on Sunday, calling for the tarring and four-laning of a key roadway in Latur district. The protest, led by Sanjay Shete and Laxmikant Tawale, aims to upgrade a 54-kilometer stretch between Murud Akola and Yedshi on the Latur-Tembhurni highway.
"The Latur-Tembhurni highway has been a long-pending demand of the people, but it has been ignored. We will not withdraw our protest until our demands are met," Shete stated. Originally set for September 17 on Marathwada Liberation Day, the protest was delayed to September 22 after officials in Nagpur granted permission.
