Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized that institutional capacity building is critical for realizing 'Viksit Bharat 2047,' a roadmap aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by its centenary of independence. Speaking at the Pondy Lit Fest, she stressed that the government has prioritized national security and self-sufficiency in defense capabilities.

Sitharaman highlighted that the current administration has made significant strides in enhancing banking infrastructure, market health, and digitizing the Indian economy. She noted that prioritizing digitization has revolutionized economic participation across all sections of society, a feat previous administrations failed to achieve over decades.

The Finance Minister also pointed out that institutional capacity in banking, infrastructure, and corporate health must be strengthened to ensure a forward-moving economy. Her comments came after meetings with Puducherry Lt Governor K Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N Rangasamy.
