Ten ostensibly harmless detonators recently exploded on railway tracks in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district, temporarily halting a military special train, officials reported Sunday.
The incident took place Wednesday near Sagphata, between Nepanagar and Khandwa stations in the Bhusawal division. Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila confirmed that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is investigating.
The detonators, issued by the railways, are typically used in routine operations as warnings for obstructions or fog. 'These detonators are regularly used by the railways,' Nila said, 'but the necessity of placing them at that location is being questioned, prompting a thorough investigation.'
Another top railway official explained that the military special train was halted briefly after the detonators exploded and then resumed its journey after a quick check. Investigations are ongoing, including statements from a patrolling group of 10 to 12 individuals.
